Sierra Leone is the third most under-developed country in the world. It has the second highest infant mortality rate. As a result of an eleven-year civil war, the country is still in the process of a complicated economic and social reconstruction phase. The instability of the government, social disorders and a broken economy produce the Sierra Leoneans’ daily strife. This consists of poverty, hunger, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, other diseases and natural. It is leaving many, many children abandoned. Their people lack means to all basic goods and necessities. And there is not enough to go around on a daily basis. When the founder of HOW traveled to Sierra Leone, he literally handed all his clothes from his backpack out to people on the streets, whose clothes were disintegrating from wearing them every day.
